Our Mission

Our Vision

The seed bomb initiative is an innovative and sustainable method aimed at promoting ecological balance, biodiversity, and contributing to achieving NET ZERO goals. By encapsulating native plant seeds in a nutrient-rich mixture, the seed bombs provide an efficient and accessible means of re-greening urban and barren areas. The seed bomb initiative presents a promising strategy for achieving NET ZERO goals and fostering environmental sustainability. With careful planning, community engagement, and ongoing research, seed bombing can become a valuable tool in the global effort to combat climate change and restore ecosystems. Further collaboration and public awareness are key to maximizing the positive impact of this innovative approach.

The mission of seed bombs is to restore ecosystems and promote biodiversity by strategically dispersing native plant seeds. By encapsulating seeds in a nutrient-rich mixture, seed bombs offer a sustainable and accessible method for reclaiming barren lands and urban spaces. Aligned with NET ZERO goals, this innovative approach fosters carbon sequestration, enhances soil health, and engages communities in environmental stewardship.
The mission extends globally, aiming to address climate change through simple, low-cost, and impactful solutions, ultimately contributing to a healthier planet and instilling a sense of responsibility for nature among individuals and communities.

The vision of seed bombs extends globally, envisioning a landscape transformed into thriving ecosystems that actively combat global warming. These biodegradable capsules, dispersed strategically, form a collective force for ecological rejuvenation. As native plants grow, they sequester carbon, contributing significantly to NET ZERO goals. The vision encompasses verdant urban areas and once-barren lands, symbolizing a tangible reduction in carbon emissions. Seed bombs inspire a worldwide movement towards sustainable practices, creating a resilient environment. This vision not only mitigates the impact of global warming but also fosters a collective responsibility, steering humanity towards a balanced coexistence with nature and achieving a harmonious, NET ZERO carbon future.

Process of Seed Bomb

Creating seed bombs is a straightforward process that involves encapsulating seeds in a mixture that facilitates germination and growth. Here is a simplified process in 5 steps:

  1. Collection of Seeds:In this first step, we collect seeds of different types from various schools and universities that are well-suited to our region and climate of Uttarakhand.
  2. Prepare Mixture:Mix together natural, biodegradable clay with nutrient-rich compost or soil. Aim for a consistency that allows the mixture to hold together without being too wet or too dry.
  3. Add Seeds:Incorporate the selected seeds into the clay-soil mixture. Ensure even distribution of seeds throughout the mixture to maximize the chances of successful germination.
  4. Shape into Bombs:Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small balls or seed bomb shapes. This can be done by hand or by using a mold. The size of the seed bombs should be suitable for easy dispersal.
  5. Drying and Storage: Finally, we allow the seed bombs to air-dry for a day or two. This helps the clay harden, ensuring the seed bombs hold together during dispersal.

Once the seed bombs are dry and ready, we strategically disperse the seed bombs through drones or manually in areas that could benefit from vegetation. This simple and eco-friendly process contributes to environmental restoration and biodiversity enhancement.

How Seed Bomb helps in achieving NET ZERO target proposed by the Government of India?

Seed bombs contribute to achieving the NET ZERO target by 2050 proposed by the Government of India by promoting afforestation and reforestation, facilitating the growth of trees that actively sequester carbon dioxide. As these trees mature, they become crucial carbon sinks, aiding in the government’s goal to achieve a balance between emitted and absorbed greenhouse gases.

The diverse plant species promoted by seed bombs enhance ecosystem resilience, contributing to the preservation of biodiversity. A balanced and thriving ecosystem is more resilient to environmental changes, supporting the government’s broader sustainability objectives.

By promoting the growth of vegetation, seed bombs also assist in local climate regulation. Trees release oxygen and contribute to cooling effects.

Seed bomb initiatives will encourage local communities to actively participate in environmental conservation. This engagement will foster a sense of responsibility among citizens, aligning with the government’s emphasis on collective action and awareness in achieving a NET ZERO target.

Seed bombs will offer a cost-effective and scalable approach to afforestation, making them a viable tool for widespread implementation. This aligns with the government’s strategies to adopt sustainable practices that can be easily replicated on a national scale, contributing significantly to the achievement of NET ZERO goal by 2050.

Advantages of Seed Bomb

Seed bombs offer several advantages, making them a popular and eco-friendly method for environmental restoration.
